FAQ

  • When and how often to use the skin balm?

We made our signature tallow balm, as a completely non-toxic alternative to modern skincare.  We intended for it to be used for everything - face, and body.  And although it was designed as an "as needed" moisturizer, we do have some general suggestions for application. For the face, we recommend starting with using the balm once a day. This can either be before bed, or in the morning after showering. This is a great baseline for promoting clarity and nourishment. However, adding more to this is totally fine if needed. When it comes to healing specific issues and wounds, a higher frequency is typically better. Scrapes, sunburns, eczema, and similar issues should be treated 2-3 times a day. This will ensure frequent nourishment to the skin. There's no rules, and no limitations. We formulated our balm to be used as much as needed, without the concern of exposure to harmful chemicals and toxins. - And at the same time, being extremely effective due to the healing properties of tallow.

  • Why Tallow?

Tallow is an extremely powerful ingredient that we use in many of our products. Up until the mid 20th century, tallow was commonly used in lotions, soaps, and other homeopathic goods, but unfortunately has been replaced with artificial oils and cheaper alternatives.  Since this switch in the cosmetic industry, the health and clarity of our skin has declined immensely.  Since tallow has an extremely similar fatty acid profile as our skin, it is highly absorbable when applied topically.  Because of this, all of the naturally occurring vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in it can be utilized in repairing skin.  It is not only deeply moisturizing, but also naturally anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial.  This makes it perfect as a face moisturizer, wrinkle cream, antibiotic, acne treatment, and more.

  • Can you use tallow on oily skin?

Because tallow is naturally anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial, it is great for soothing and healing acne prone skin.  Tallow is also highly moisturizing. And although it may seem counterproductive for oily skin, having hydrated skin is extremely important for maintaining the correct skin barrier, which prevents excessive oil production. Dehydrated skin tends to overcorrect by producing more oil. For those with oil prone skin, we recommend starting with a smaller amount in the evening to let it absorb overnight and build from there as needed?
